It was a very relaxing weekend for me and my boyfriend. One of the relaxing almost LAZY weekends, why hey we all need them right? I was so excited to go to the very first Krispy kreme in Singapore. All I can say is… It was bloody gorgeous. The first flavour that crabbed me was the one and only RED VELVET. Yes a Red Velvet DONUT, it exists! Honestly is what heaven in a box… Of course we had to buy a dozen of them it else our trip there would be a waste (still got 6 left). I also LOVED the Caramel Kreme, a donut glazed with chocolate and caramel drizzle AND a gooey caramel filling. Think I went into my little food coma after them two donuts, so yes they are highly recommended by moi!

As much as I do love Krispy Kreme donuts nothing beats a good old hot and sugary donut from the UK. I remember on a Saturday we would go down to the pier and buy a bag of lovely hot donuts fresh from the fryer… YUM. I do miss a lot f British treats, but gotta admit the Americans know how to make a damn good donut.

English pier + sunshine. Perfect time for a sugar donut!

So anyone living in Singapore reading this… GO TO KRISPY KREMES… Now! Trust me you won’t regret it. It’s in the basement of Tangs mall on Orchard road.

Ratings… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ nothing less than 5.

When I first ever started to bake alone πŸ°

My first ever baking attempt… alone!

Last year on valentines day I decided to celebrate with my very first bake. I made this cake on my own without the famous mamma jones (I was very proud!) This bake was a very generic red velvet cake topped with cream cheese frosting, my idea of cake h.e.a.v.e.n! The image shows my weak points… And that was the frosting. I have improved ever since thanks to mamma jones. Yet still the quote from my mum remains fresh in my memory
‘Sam you’ve made a bloody good cake! And you know me I speak the truth’ and she really does!

Ever since that valentines day I’ve been baking on my own ever since. Sometimes I win sometimes I loose but it’s trial an error! That’s the way I learn. This year however I’m tackling my first pastry for my valentines bake, and I’m terrified!! Fingers crossed there’s no soggy bottom on my tart… I’m praying to the pastry gods!

I’m going to be baking the famous Bakewell tart. God I miss a good bakewell! Singapore unfortunately doesn’t sell them… And everyday a good strong cup of tea just isn’t the same without a Bakewell tart! So especially for my boyfriend, who ever since came to the uk with me in the summer of 2013 has been in love with Bakewell tarts! He will now receive his wish πŸ™‚ (he can stoop nagging me now!!) I’m going to share with you the recipe and take photos step by step of my pastry adventure!! I’ll be showing off my piping skills too with a little red heart in the centre (because I have to be cheesy for v-day!). Traditionally it’s topped with white icing and a glazed cherry yet I’ll add my special quirky twist because I’m Sam! So wish me luck on my adventure! I shall keep you posted πŸ™‚

πŸ’˜Happy Tuesday! Only 2 more sleeps till the big day πŸ™‚ get baking with looooooove!Β πŸ’Œ
